Veterans of World War II are in their late 80s and early 90s and many of the obituaries that pass through the Daily Journal feature those who served or were otherwise part of the Greatest Generation. In conjunction with the exhibit, museum officials plan to honor veterans of World War II, along with other veterans and members of the community who participated in the war effort during the exhibits opening on Dec. The museum will be open regular hours that day, with the usual entrance fee.
The special 5 p. The ceremony will have live music from the s, salutes to veterans and a special presentation of certificates to each World War II veteran in attendance. RSVPs will be required and anyone who wishes to attend should call the museums main line at Museum officials are also asking for help in building the exhibit through stories, memorabilia, photos, letters or other items that can illustrate what life was like on the Peninsula at that time.
Items can be donated or loaned. Museum officials are looking for items from EIMAC in San Bruno, the largest maker of vacuum tubes for radios and radars in the world during the war, and also more items from the detention center at Sharp Park.
